Additions to the Adult Writers' List
HistoriCool is an Australian print magazine
whose aim is to provide entertaining and educational historical content for ages 8-14. This is a paying market and is
willing to consider submissions from anywhere in the world. Check
here
for writer guidelines. I'm excited that the editor, Lucy Singer, has provided us additional insights into this
publication through an interview for this issue of Writing for Children's Magazines. Check it out
here.
Stinkwaves is a bi-annual YA literary magazine
with 70-90 pages of entertaining poetry, fiction, and illustrations. It is published in both print and ebook formats.
Check here for submission guidelines. They
say they are looking for "adventure, action, Sci-Fi, supernatural, spooky ghost stories, inspirational
etc."
This is currently a non-paying market.
Schoolwide is a digital data base of reading materials
for Grades K-8. I've had it included in my Educational Market List for a while, but had not thought about including it
here on the magazine list until a reader recently suggested it. I realized I have other online story sites included in
the magazine list, so it makes sense. Schoolwide publishes many forms of reading material including articles, short
stories, and poetry. Submission guidelines are
here. Payment is in the form of
royalties.
Additions to the Young Writers' List
HistoriCool (see above for information) encourages
submissions from young writers ages 8-14. Submission guidelines are

Stinkwaves (see above for information) is
open to submissions from writers and illustrators of all ages. Guidelines are
here.

Highlights Expands Online Submissions
Highlights Hello and Highlights High Five are both now accepting online submissions of stories and poems.
The instructions say that they welcome multiple submissions, but that only one story or poem should be uploaded at a time.
This is the submission site.
Starsongs Update
After a hiatus, Starsongs magazine is starting up publication again later this summer and is actively seeking
submissions. Their current list of themes can be found here.
The magazine is published quarterly. It features short stories, essays, articles, poetry, photography, and artwork
by young people ages 9 - 19. Each issue also includes a single piece on the
craft of writing written by an adult. They prefer that that article be written by previously published authors.
This and That
GREYstone is once again open for submissions from
K-12 students and teachers.
Kids who want to be part of Pockets advisory board can apply July 1-31. Check
here for information.
If you're interested in submitting to Guide magazine, an interview of the editor, Randy Fishell,
"How to Talk to Young People" was published May 22nd
here--and might give you some additional insights into what he likes.
