Addition to the Adult Writers' List

Animal Tales is a brand new children's magazine for ages 6-12 that focuses entirely on animals. Its first issue was in August. Animal Tales, published six times a year, is filled with heart-warming animal stories, informational articles, funny pet photos, embarrassing moments, and animal-themed games, quizzes, puzzles, and jokes. Every issue also includes six collectible animal posters. The magazine encourages interactivity with its readers by allowing them to submit animal photos, artwork and stories to be featured in the magazine and on their website.

Contact information is here.

Editor in Chief, who is also the editor for Girls' World, is Marisa Sandora -- editor(at)animaltalesmag(dot)com

Addition to the Young Writers' List

Animal Tales is for you young writers, too. If you look on the website page, you'll see that they make sending your stories and pictures to them very easy--just click, and an email is already addressed and ready for you. This is a non-paying market for kids.

Change in Face Up

Face Up, an Irish, Christian magazine for ages 14-18 has ceased publication as a magazine. From their website--"Up until May 2014, Face Up was a monthly magazine. Following the final publication, the Face Up website was established to provide back articles as a free resource for youth workers and for teens themselves. Content for the Face Up site is mainly taken from back issues of the magazine. However, we are always looking for fresh, new articles from young people or those working with teenagers." This is no longer a paying market.

Update on Enchanted Conversation

Enchanted Conversation: A Fairy Tale Magazine is changing its format. "Rather than holding monthly contests, the site will now hold flash contests, regular giveaways, and promote fairy tale related projects." Check here for details. Also, the magazine is out of commission for a few weeks (as of August 17th) due to the editor's hand injury.

This and That

Fun for Kidz, Boys' Quest, and Hopscotch have a new look. They're now full-color with larger size pages (8"x10"). Number of pages is 32, instead of 50.

• As of August 1st, Marcia Lusted is now editor of AppleSeeds.

Alfie Dog Fiction is open to submissions again after a summer hiatus.

Spellbound is currently closed to submissions.

Discontinued

Hogglepot will maintain its website, and its archived material will be available, but it is ceasing publication of new material. The editor said, "Due to my responsibilities as a stay-at-home mother and the increasing demands of my publishing career, I have to prioritize my work, and since Hogglepot is an unpaid endeavor, I cannot spare the time and effort it takes."

Updated Links in the Adult List

Dramatics, plus contact information.

• Face Up submission information.

• The Story Shack submission guidelines.

Updated Link in the Young Writers' List

• The domain name for Cyberteens has expired. I found a link for Cyberteen Magazine. I think it's probably a different publication from Cyberteens, but since I'm not sure, I'm listing it here as a link change, rather than above, as a new addition to the list.

• Face Up submission information.

Reminder

The next issue of Writing for Children's Magazines will be published in November.

If you want to sign up for the Writing for Children's Magazines Yahoo group, you'll receive a notice of when new issues are posted, plus occasionally receive updates between issues (especially if the information is time-sensitive).
