Additions to the List

--KID'S IMAGINATION TRAIN is a brand new online magazine for children ages 6-12. Each month KIT will publish one story, one article, and one book review by writers ages 18 and up. The plan is to increase this number in the near future. Illustrations will be by children ages 5-12.

Suggested topics are: Science, Nature, Animals, Technology, History, Astronomy, Sports, World cultures, Adventure, Health, Volunteering.

Submission guidelines are on the same page as the link given above. This is a non-paying market. Editors are Irene Roth and Randi Lynn Mrvos, who formerly worked with Stories for Children Magazine.

--KIKI is an award-winning fashion and creativity magazine written for girls eight and older. It's printed bi-monthly with no ads. From their website: "Through fashion, readers explore business, fine art, craft, history, world culture, math, and even chemistry. They discover that having fun with style and artistry is completely compatible with intelligence and creativity. Kiki inspires girls to do rather than watch, to make rather than consume."

Check here for submission guidelines. They apparently do some pay and some non-pay articles. Their guidelines say, "Unless submission is stated to be a possible work for hire, submission will be considered property of Kiki magazine."

KNOWONDER Currently Closed to Submissions

The online magazine Knowonder is temporarily closed to submissions. As of October 1, 2012 their website says:

"Submissions are currently CLOSED. We have received SO many great submissions that we just need some time to catch up. We expect to be open for submissions again by Jan. 1, 2013. So keep writing! And please save a few of your best stories for us. :)"

Ceased Publication

The online magazine Berry Blue Haiku closed as a publication for teachers and students as of August 2012. Editor Gisele LeBlanc says she intends to keep Berry Blue Haiku alive as a simple online journal, which will be directed to a general audience. She also says she plans to publish Berry Blue Haiku as an annual anthology, available in print, which will feature just haiku and haiga for children.

According to their website, Teen Voices ceased publication as of August 31, 2012 "due to financial and organizational deficits."

The family magazine Happiness appears to have also ceased publication. Their previous website link no longer works, and I'm unable to find a new one.
